Benefits to the person RECEIVING Child Support

Child Support Services provides the following services to you:

  • Enforcement of Child Support
    Child Support Services has several ways to collect child support for your child(ren) including:
    • Interception of:
      • Withholding of wages from paychecks (wage assignment)
      • Income tax refunds
      • Unemployment benefits
      • Worker’s Compensation benefits
      • State Disability benefits
      • Lottery winnings
    • Bank levies (attaching bank accounts)
    • License suspensions (driver’s and professional licenses)
    • Passport denials
    • Property liens
    • Referral to the District Attorney for criminal prosecution
  • Enforcement of Health Insurance – Child Support Services works to enroll the child(ren) into health insurance coverage
  • Modification of Support Orders
    • Child Support Services will modify support orders if there is a change of circumstances based on:
      • Increase or decrease of income (lay-off, firing, reduction of hours/pay rate)
      • Disability
      • Military deployment
      • Change in custody or visitation
  • Payment records – Accurate record keeping of how much support you have received each month

    • Card can be used to get cash at ATM

  • Electronic Money Transfers
    • Eliminates writing checks or sending money order
    • Child support is paid electronically from checking or savings account
  • Monthly billing statements – Reminder of how much is owed
  • Modification of Support Orders
    • Child Support Services will modify support orders if there is a change of circumstances based on:
      • Decrease of income (lay-off, firing, reduction of hours/pay rate)
      • Disability
      • Jail or prison
